About Sikh Sentinel
Sikh Sentinel is maintained by a dedicated group of Sikh activists and volunteers from around the world.
We are united by our commitment to documenting and exposing anti-Sikh hostility, discrimination, and organized activities targeting our community globally. This platform serves as a resource to track these occurrences and the entities perpetrating them.
Our Motivation
Our work is deeply rooted in the core Sikh principles of upholding truth (Sat), seeking justice (Niaa), and defending the rights of the oppressed (Sarbat da Bhala - welfare of all, while recognizing the need to protect the vulnerable). We are inspired by the unwavering commitment to justice demonstrated by our Gurus and historical Sikh figures throughout our history.
We believe that systematically documenting incidents of bias, violence, and hate, along with monitoring organizations that promote anti-Sikh sentiment, is a crucial step towards achieving awareness, accountability, and safety for the Sikh community worldwide.
Furthermore, this effort is driven by our dedication to the Sikh Panth (Community/Path) and the advocacy for the rights and self-determination of Sikhs. For us, this inherently includes raising awareness about and working towards the eventual liberation of our occupied homeland, Panjab (currently designated as Indian Occupied Punjab), which we understand to be under Indian occupation and facing systemic challenges.
Our Approach
Sikh Sentinel functions as a monitoring and reporting initiative. We gather information through:
- Analysis of publicly available sources (news reports, official statements, research papers).
- Monitoring the activities and publications of specific organizations known for or suspected of promoting anti-Sikh narratives or actions.
- Voluntary submissions from community members regarding incidents (which we strive to verify where possible).
Our primary aim is to consolidate this information into a centralized resource to foster greater awareness within the Sikh community and the broader public, provide data for advocacy groups, researchers, and legal efforts, and ultimately contribute to accountability for perpetrators of hate and discrimination.
Volunteer Effort
This website is operated entirely by volunteers dedicating their time and resources. While we strive for accuracy and comprehensive coverage, the scope of our monitoring may be limited by our available resources. We are not formally affiliated with any single political party or governmental body.
We encourage vigilance and critical engagement with the information presented. Your awareness and participation in reporting incidents are vital to this collective effort.
